Processing Results: From Hulls to Isolates
Hulls – A Valuable Byproduct with Multiple Uses
Dehulling removes the outer hull from legumes like faba beans and peas, improving the quality and digestibility of the final product. While the core proteins move forward in processing, the hulls remain a highly useful byproduct.
Rich in fiber and nutrients, hulls are commonly used in pet food - for example, in feed for dogs and horses - as well as in livestock feed for sheep. In some cases, they are also utilized for biogas production, contributing to sustainable energy solutions.
Dehulled Products – High-Quality Protein for Feed and Pet food
Once the hulls are removed, the dehulled legumes become a high-quality protein ingredient, ideal for fish feed where digestibility and nutrition are key. Their balanced amino acid profile makes them a sustainable alternative in aquaculture.
Beyond fish feed, dehulled products are also used in premium pet food for dogs and as a valuable protein source in cattle feed, supporting healthy growth and efficient feed conversion.
